| Mark Brimblecombe | At 1/6 second exposure you just must have a good tripod to avoid a blurred image. Just got myself a nice Manfotto tripod and can get these for anyone in the group at wholesale price from T.A. MacAlister Ltd. Essential accessory! | |

found the image to be too soft. A little more angle on the fence-line would have made for a better composition. Nice colour. |
| Shona Kebble | 20/6/07 |
There are nice pastel tones
in the image but the fence running across tends to lead my eye out the
left hand side. |

| Mark Brimblecombe | This image likewise seems to suffer terribly from the same lack of tripod for this slow shutter speed. | |
| Karen Talbot | ||

| Peter McMahon | 29/6/07 |
perhaps too much in image. A tighter crop left...top...bottom. again too soft, but nice colour |
| Shona Kebble | 20/6/07 |
Again lovely pastel tones
captured well. I like the feeling of isolation in this image.
I wonder if it would work better if some was cropped from the bottom
making it a square format. |

Apart from the obvious horizon problem I feel there is far too much in this image. A concentration on the bow and mooring ropes would give you a simpler and much stronger composition. |
| Doug Moulin | 31/1/07 |
Nicely exposed with good detail in the dark areas and no digital burnout. I would prefer to see more of the wheel house structure and the horizon needs to be straightened. A nice sunset with lovely lighting on the water. |
| Mark Brimblecombe | 6/2/07 | Straighten horizon and sharpen a little. This could be shot for just a little little fill in flash, without destroying the silhouette. |
| Karen Talbot | 4/1/07 |
This image would have been more interesting if there was some "action" on board- maybe fishermen getting ready for a day's work. The sunrise is lovely,(I remember,I was there too!!) Image is a little static maybe. |
| Bill Hodges | 28/12/06 |
Good exposure. The image has interest but I find the boat is going up hill. Just straighten the horizon would improve the image. |
| Peter McMahon | 4/1/07 |
a nice moody image, but am lost on a point of interest. The image needs to be straightened..... horizon, boat , wharf. Perhaps reversing the image and making an area of the ship a focal point? might make for a stronger image. |
| Shona Kebble | 16/1/07 |
A lovely sunset with good foreground interest. I like the crop but it is a pity the horizon is crooked. |
| Image 2 - Out of Bounds | ||
| Bob McCree | 20/2/07 |
Again, as an ex golfer, I can sympathise with this moment. A much tighter crop would be helpful - above the knees, off the right and the top to position the golfer to the right of centre would improve things, I feel. |
| Doug Moulin | 31/1/07 |
Composition could be improved in this shot. Less space above the head and all the feet included. There is a story here but I don't know what it's all about. |
| Mark Brimblecombe | 6/2/07 | Interesting... I'm not a golfer, but assume this is not a good look! Need a faster shutter speed on this one. |
| Karen Talbot | 4/1/07 |
I can't help wondering where the ball is??? Just like he is too??? An interesting image, but a little soft. |
| Bill Hodges | 28/12/06 | Again good exposure, But I would have like to have seen all of the golfer in the picture. |
| Peter McMahon | 4/1/07 |
being a golfer, I enjoyed looking at the moment and felt what you were trying to capture. Just a bit out of focus and would have like to see all of the feet and a bit more facial expression. Nice effort and keep trying. |
| Shona Kebble | 16/1/07 |
Well exposed image but the person appears to be too far to the left. A crop off the right and bottom may improve it and toning down the background would make the person stand out better. |

Just a little flat for me, John, and rather divided with the horizon through the middle. More of the mountains and less of the foreground, perhaps. |
| Doug Moulin | 29/10/06 |
A lovely image with pastel colours. I can almost feel the cold and the crunch of frost under foot. The foreground is a little flat and I think lightening it will bring the whole image to life. |
| Mark Brimblecombe | 15/09/06 | Wonderful composition in my opinion. The hard (mountains) and soft (or so they seem... grasses) contrast, with that wonderful dark tree line between. |
| Karen Talbot | 10/10/06 |
A favourite haunt of mine too, John. I find the rushes though a bit "flat". Love the mountains and early morning cloud colour. Perhaps a little tweaking could warm it a little. |
| Bill Hodges | 26/9/06 |
Yes I like the composition and the softness between the mountains & grasses. The tree line breaks the image giving a Very nice image |
| Peter McMahon | 23/9/06 | good composition and light. Just feel needs more contrast, to bring out foreground and sky colour, also tones in the mountains. |
| Shona Kebble | 28/10/06 |
A lovely scene but the grasses are too dull. These can be quite golden in the right light but you can do a good job of enhancing them in Photoshop. I do like the layered composition. |
| Image 2 - Relaxing | ||
| Bob McCree | 30/10/06 |
Good lighting and nice contextual background, but I am a little uncomfortable with the composition. The left hand third of the image is not contributing much - I would prefer to see the image cropped just to the left of the thermos and more shown on the right, to give the person some room to look into. |
| Doug Moulin | 29/10/06 |
I like this image very much - it has a nostalgic feel and makes one feel relaxed viewing it. The colours go well together and I like the table arrangement. In my opinion, the only comment on improvement would be to crop some of the ocean at the top as it is fairly bright and distracting and also crop the knees off. |
| Mark Brimblecombe | 15/09/06 | I must get my 300mm lens back from my daughter! Nice way to isolate the background while still seeing what it is. Unless you're trying to make a point about the flask and cups, I would love to see the human engaging with them somehow from the other side of the table. Good candid shot though. |
| Karen Talbot | 10/10/06 |
Nice early light. I keep coming back to this image- something is uncomfortable. Maybe the gentleman needs to be on the other side of table, or crop the table in half so there appears to be more space in front of him. I like the soft background which still tells you exactly where the image is taken. |
| Bill Hodges | 26/9/06 |
A well seen image, but I would have liked more of the person in the image. Feel that his legs have no where to go |
| Peter McMahon | 14/10/06 | good title, but a lot of the image is wasted on the left. Try flipping and cropping,or just cropping, but oh! those lost feet. |
| Shona Kebble | 28/10/06 |
This image does not work so well for me. Maybe cropping off the left third would help but the man being so close to the edge just somehow does not feel right. |
