16 / 05 / 05 - Welcome to the Disciples of Zoldon website.

DOZ has been recording a studio album for most of the year so far.  Please visit the Biography for more info on what Doz is all about, the Tracks section to hear the available works of metal so far, the lyrics to read about what DOZ have to proclaim, and The Disciples page to learn of the ones working under the command of ZOLDON himself on the project.  So far half of the album is done, and will be made available on the site.  As we draw nearer to our goal I will begin to update the site more regularly with the new tracks and progress.

17 / 05 / 05

As of today I've uploaded 3 DOZ songs, Chalice of malice, The champion Korg and Eternal abyss.  More will follow if I can sort out the space.  Anyone visiting this site, feel free to get hold of me and send some feedback.

10 / 06 / 05

Alright, the other night we completed 3 new Doz tracks: Lifeslayer, imminent suffering, and Forgotten Deity.  Two of them are shorter, intermitant tracks, and one is regular length.  I will try uploading them shortly.  The lyrics and comments will be going up on their respective pages also.

23 / 06 / 05

The latest Doz Effort was a song called 'The Occurrance of Suffering'.  Also, we've decided to cut the song 'Sustenance of the Damned' from the track list.  Additionally, we're renaming the song 'Satire', previously the final song on the album, now it is 'Black Theology'.  This one will be an entertaining rant style piece with the intention of ending the album with a good laugh.  Two more songs to go!  When the album is done we'll be making some CD covers and burning some discs for people.  So if it hasn't been mentioned to you and you would like one, let me know!

04 / 07 / 05

The Disciples of Zoldon have recently acquired new Web-space.  This will allow us to upload all of our song material and more!  Work is going well on the album, very little is left to do.  Hopefully the finished product will be done in the next couple of weeks.  The title track, 'War on Peace and Happiness' has been re-recorded and sounds great.  The final track on the album is going to instead appear as a 'secret track' on the end of 'Eternal abyss'.  I've also been working on an album booklet for the hard copies of this CD.  Since the site has moved, none of the song files are available.  What I will do is wait for an opportunity to upload everything at once.  We still have to go over the list of songs and make some minor tweaks, but once that is done I will try to upload the whole lot.

08 / 08 / 05

With the release of the first album, listened to by over fifteen people, The dominion of the God of Heavy metal is widening.  With a link from the NZ Metal page, already over one hundred souls have been harvested, according to the hit counter at the bottom of this page.  No fewer than five mortals have signed the guestbook at the time of this post.  Yet, Zoldon has not allowed his disciples to remain idle.  Plans for new recordings are commencing, and regular updates shall follow.  Remain ye watchful!

14 / 08 / 05

We've recorded a piece called Spheroscope using the new equipment.  Download it here.  This song may well appear in the new Doz album tracklist.  But for now, its a good gauge on how the new gear is sounding!  Check it out.

23 / 08 / 05 - Celebration

I would like to announce two things.  First, the website of Zoldon has achieved 200 hits.  Secondly, I am making preparations to film a heavy metal documentary that will delve deep into the social aspects of this widely misunderstood genre, and give insight into the true nature of the God of Heavy Metal.

Also, what do you think of these two pictures?  I may consider taking one of them and developing it in preparation for the cover art on the up and coming DOZ release.

03 / 09 / 05 - Website updates

I've now added a Discography section to organize the various projects that DOZ have done and are working on.  You will be able to see projected song titles for the new album and EP we are planning.  Make sure you get the latest song we did using our new gear and my new guitar (did I not mention I use a 7 string now?)

The documentary is being filmed at present.  For now I won't say anything more than that I have a decent camcorder and good video editing software, and that the end product will be a dvd of approximately 60 mins running length, that will come with the Disc of the Damned CD release.

17 / 09 / 05 - New Album Progress

Well into the recording of the new album now.  This album will be called 'Disc of the Damned' and will be a double CD release, featuring the Audio CD Disc of the Damned as well as the homevideo/documentary - DVD of the Damned.  I've recorded over 2 hours of footage to edit so far, and we've got demo's for two songs for the album down.  I won't be uploading anything until the whole album is done.  However, you'll soon be able to look at the track listing and lyrics for the new album in the Discography page.

Please read the new FAQ if you haven't already.

I've swapped links with the Heavy Metal Index, check out the DOZ entry there and vote 10 for the site.  Zoldon commands it.

15 / 10 / 05     Hiatus

The Disciples of Zoldon project is now on Hiatus.  The Disc of the Damned Album will not be recorded this year, instead, the five songs that are ready will be put together in a collection called the;

'Recruit the from the tombs EP'

I will make these tracks available on the website.  DOZ will not be recording anything else until further notice.  The Documentary is also on hold.

So far, Zoldon has declared a War on Peace and Happiness, and raised an Army of the dead with which he will carry out his declaration.  Who knows what heinous scheme he has in store?

DOZ Music Video to be Filmed

Yes, you read correctly.  A Music Video shall be filmed, starting during January 2006, and should be finished before the end of February.  We will be doing 'Tis the Dead ye Shall dread, and submitting it to the Steelmill (if it airs again next year).

It will be made available on DVD, along with behind the scenes footage of the EP and the video.  I also hope to make a version available for download on this site.

04/01/05     Theology Page

Every Believer in a God of any kind needs an organised, systematic Theory of who that God is, what his intentions are, how he relates to mortals, etcetra.  A detailed Theology of ZOLDON: God of Heavy metal can therefore be found on the Theology Page of this website.

Expect more updates this next few months, as dire things are conspiring to take place.

08/01/06    Review them from the Tombs

I found this site called www.garageband.com

The basic premise is, you create an account like on myspace or purevolume, then post a band, with bio, history and all that.  Then, in order to upload one of your songs, you are forced to review 30 other bands.  Those reviews are then reviewed by other users to cross-check that they are objective reviews and not bullshit.

Then, you can upload a song and people on the site are forced to review it to get their own songs reviewed.  If you want to check your own reviews you have to review other peoples reviews.  So the system goes.

I did all this and will be posting the reviews I'm getting for the song 'Recruit them from the Tombs' right here on this site, on the new Reviews page.  Hopefully I will update this regularly if I get loads of reviews.  **Edit: I've added 'Tis the Dead ye shall Dread' to the site as well.  Total of 5 reviews between the two songs, just check the Reviews page for updates.

11/01/06    Zoldon Rakes in the Awards

Zoldon has three of his songs on the website www.garageband.com now.

Recruit them from the tombs has already soared to the top 20 in the Hardout Metal Genre and is raking in some great reviews.  It will be song of the day on the 15th, meaning that it will appear as an advertisement in that category for 24 hours.

Soon his domination will be complete... bwuahhaha!!

23/01/06    Music Video Final filming

Filming is already underway for the video planned for 'Tis the Dead ye shall Dread'.  I expect to be filming some shots of the 'band' (Friends posing as musicians) on the 4th or the 5th of February.  Expect the DVD of the Damned (Music video plus home footage extras) to be out later that month.  I will post material on this site, so stay tuned.

In the meantime, there are now 4 songs uploaded over on the DOZ Garageband page.  3 of those have finished their reviews, so I have pasted them all into the reviews section.  I'll be uploading another one before too long.  Which should it be?

09/02/06    New Photo Gallery

A new photo gallery is up in the Disciples section.  These were taken while we were filming the DVD.  Expect the DVD out next week!!  The Steelmill is back on this week, and I can confirm that I have talked to the producer and he is keen to see the DOZ video.  Stay tuned!

16/02/06    DVD Finished

The DVD is done.  I'm sending it off to The Steelmill on C4, so it may get played - stay tuned.  Anyone that wants a copy of the DVD, let me know.  The video file of just the music video for 'tis the dead ye shall dread' is available for download, at just over 45mb.

For all info about this DVD and it's contents, refer now to the page for the DVD of the DAMNED

DOZ video to play on the Steelmill

The Steelmill will play the music video for 'tis the Dead ye shall Dread', on the 04/03/06 show (saturday 1am).  I've had this confirmed, so make sure you spread the word, and tune in!

I would also like to make a public apology to Brendon Kahi for spelling his name wrong in the DVD credits.  Sorry man!

14/03/06    March of the Dead

This picture I found was so funny, I just had to post it here.

Stay tuned - new DOZ activity is definitely in the pipeline.

08/04/06  DOZ: General Update

The 'Disciples Of Zoldon' Project has been going for just over one year now.  In that time, a full length album, EP and DVD have been produced.  Copies of these have been distributed to dozens of people, uploaded on several websites, and the music video has even been aired on NZ Television.  I still consider DOZ to have a fanbase of less than 20 people, but hundreds have at least heard or seen some of the content.  My aim is to increase DOZ exposure but also to specifically try and share the project with people that are interested in extreme metal yet like to enjoy the 'less than serious' elements as well.

DOZ is no longer on Hiatus and there will be a brand new full length album coming out this year.  Recording has already started, and the title of the album will be:

'Unto Thine Darkness, Death Doth Deliver'

The amount of time, effort, skill and money being invested into this one will be substantially more than anything done by DOZ in the past.  Although I will still upload the entire album to this website when done, allowing for free online distribution, there will be a quality hard copy available, with a printed CD, jewel case, booklet etc - and maybe even a t-shirt.  This hard copy CD may also be free as well.  I have a 'free list' of people that will be recieving a copy, if you aren't sure if you're on it and don't want to miss out on one, please let me know.

03/05/06  MetalStorm Compilation

Some of you will be familiar with the heavy metal website - Metalstorm.  These guys put out a compilation CD each month, with a number of new songs by new bands, and even some unsigned bands.  I'm proud to say that The Disciples of Zoldon is featuring in their May CD, with the song 'Recruit them from the Tombs'.  See for yourself!!

16/05/06  DOZ Video back on the Steelmill

A couple of weeks back, C4TV played the DOZ video on the Steelmill (for the second time this year).  Some people have gone and looked up DOZ on the net as a result: if that's you and you've just arrived at this site, please note that all the music and the video are free to download, check the discography section for that.  If you want to know more about DOZ start with the bio.

01/07/06  IMMINENT ALBUM

The brand new Disciples of Zoldon full-length album will soon be ready, - we're talking a premier in just over two weeks time.  The last few months have been tough, but Unto Thine Darkness, Death Doth Deliver shall soon be complete.  My plan is to initially duplicate 50 copies of it and distribute these free to people interested.  Initially only a few songs will be available for download (to encourage people to listen to the CD version as all the songs are mastered to run together as a 45 minute listening experience).

I will be sending a bulletin out on myspace as well as posting on a number of forums, and so on, but of course if you're not sure if you're already on my free copies list, please get in touch.  This album once again will be free, but I will be suggesting a donation of ten dollars to certain people to help contribute to actually getting copies to others.  I'm going the whole way with it this time, everything from booklet to jewel case to printing on the CD itself.

Once again, ZOLDON shall rule!!

17/07/06  NEW ALBUM OUT

The Album is now out, visit the page for it hereUpdate: downloadable songs now available, lyrics are ready, view them here.  I have some copies duplicated and will be sending them to friends, but also asking that anyone else wanting a free copy let me know with some kind of postal address.  A very very big thanks to Matt Genier for turning out the best CD art ever and helping me not fuck everything up in photoshop.  His site will be up soon at www.64demons.com

The CD turned out totally badass.

02/08/06  Forum

There is now a DOZ forum.  I've been wanting to do this for ages.  Help it not die horribly by going and posting on it.  http://www.phpbb88.com/zoldon/

24/09/06  Metalstorm website reviews DOZ album

My friend Fransisco (aka Herzebeth) over at Metalstorm.ee has just uploaded his review of the latest DOZ album: Unto thine darkness, death doth deliver.  It's a bit of a Harsh review, but fair.  After all, this guy does reviews for Nile albums and so on, you can't expect him to give the same credit to some guy that just pumps out a couple of solo studio project albums twice a year, especially albums that are joke oriented.

Still, it would have been better to get put into the doom metal genre instead of death metal for that effort, and it is important to note that the humour of this latest album really rides on the back of the last two albums.  A lot is assumed in the jokes - it's a bit more subtle this time.

27/11/06  Blackened Theological Tome: Next album 2007

The Dark Lord Zoldon, Master of all things Metal and to whom all praise and worship is due, hath commanded yet another album from his disciples...

I'm already hard at work on the next DOZ album which will be titled:

'Blackened Theological Tome'.

This will be a special one - taking quite a different turn from the previous two full-length albums and EP, this time it will be a purely technical death metal album; ten tracks sticking relatively consistently to just the single genre.  It will have a much more serious tone than what has been offered previously by the project, although the humour will still be there in subtle form.

The bad news is that since I will be putting quite a lot more time and effort into the actual quality of the music - in particular the arrangements and technicality (I have to practice quite a lot more than usual), it is going to take quite some time.  When I started work on this (pretty much right after the last album came out) I thought it might be ready by next February, but it's looking like this will not be possible.  I do at least hope to have this out before the middle of next year however.

A big thanks to everyone who is listening to "Unto Thine Darkness...", it's been great to hear the feedback, which has generally been good.  When the next album is out I will actually be charging $10 for the hard copy, this is purely to help cover duplication and recording costs - I won't be making any profit from this, and it will still be absolutely free to download.  For now, copies of the other albums will still be available free, so get in touch if you still haven't got one.

Also, this is not the direction I am taking the DOZ project in, in terms of the genre and approach, it is simply an album I have been wanting to do for a long time now, and I can't wait to have something really streamlined and brutal to show off.  The songs will also be much more suitable for music videos!

Finally, i'll be constantly updating news about the new album on the forum, as well as possibly posting some early demo versions (although not until I hit the studio which will be a couple of months away).  Please sign up and contribute!!

02/02/07  Slaughterama Zine interview

Local Metal Zine 'Slaughterama'caught up with me and did an interview concerning the DOZ project in general, in particular the most recent album 'Unto Thine Darkness, Death Doth Deliver'.  You can download a pdf version of the issue with the interview at this link.

In other news, i'm doing weekly studio sessions on the new album, you can even read a diary of how things are going, here at this forum link.

25/03/07  Doom Metal album review

The largest Doom Metal reviews website on the net has finally got around to doing a review of 'Unto thine darkness, death doth deliver', the most recent DOZ album.  You can read it by visiting www.doom-metal.com then checking the reviews section.

It's a good review, of course the reviewer makes note of the fact that only half the album is doom, namely the first and last 10 minute sections.  Also, yet again, the reviewer didn't check out the earlier material and didn't pick up on the humour so well.  No big deal.

Readers that have arrived here from the link on the review, head over to this page to download the mp3's from the album.  It's free to do so.  Send me an e-mail if you want the album posted to you.

24/07/07  No more free Album copies

I'm out of free copies of Unto Thine Darkness, Death Doth Deliver, and won't be making any more.  But the good news is, there's a new album coming out sometime within the next two or three months.  More info soon, in the meantime, read the forum as per usual.
